 Desde San Vicente PACAYA se puede escalar este volcán, que es uno de los más pequeños y mas impresionantes picos de Guatemala. Su sima solo se eleva 2250 metros, pero es el volcán con más actividad. Rodeado de rocas y graba de sus explosiones desde 1965. Sin embargo registros coloniales indican su actividad desde entre 1565 y 1775. Hoy en día es uno de los más accesibles y excitantes volcanes en Centro América.
La mejor hora para observar las erupciones es en la noche, cuando desde la cima al ver el cráter se puede observar el color naranja de la Lava. Es posible hacer tours grupales y llegar a la cima en 45 minutos. Es seguro, limpio y con su camino está señalizado completamente.
English  From San Vicente PACAYA you can climb the volcano, one of the smallest and most impressive of Guatemala’s peaks. At height of just 2250m, Pacaya is the country’s most dramatically active volcano, spiting out clouds of rock and ash in the region’s most dramatic sound and light extravaganza. The current period of eruption began in 1965, although colonial records show that it was also active between 1565 and 1775. Today it certainly ranks at the most accessible and exciting volcano in Central America, and trip to the cone is an unforgettable experience.
The best time to watch the eruptions is at night, when the sludge that the volcano spouts can be seen in it’s full glory as a plume of brilliant orange. Though it is possible to climb the cone independently, virtually everyone now chooses to join a group with guide.
